They got some nerve! Need to be locked up. Very official said the call was recorded gave me his badge number told me to get a pen and paper and he'd wait for me to write down the case number.
Said that tax fraud was happening and that I needed to get an attorney immediately but then at the end he offered to give me a chance to pay.
He asked what would you like to do? I replied Then he said good luck and hung up. Asked them the reason they were calling. And they again asked for my spouse. Told them I needed to know why they were calling. They then aggressively replied with "I don't give out my information and your spouse gave me this as a contact number.
I know for a fact that is not true. They got tired of me and just hung up. Just received a call from It was a recording from the "Social Security Department" that my SS was being used in a fraud situation I got a call from an telling me to appear in court or ill be arrested, people need to get real jobs New one--got a call from an number.
It said it was from Layton, Utah. I did not answer. When viewing the number afterwards it had a in front, meaning it was an international number from country code 80, which is Germany.
I got 3 different numbers from an user and they all had the same pictures and they all told me they were gonna my find my family if I didn't give them some amount of money which always changed claiming their from a cartel.
The latest number is Received a call from someone who said he was with the Federal Reserve and that I won money. The call came from area code and was then told his personal number is area code This must be scam.
My phone's been hacked, apparently, because while I was outside in a noisy area where I couldn't hear what was going with my phone and never took it out of my pocket once, it dialed When I finally heard a recorded message, it was over 40 minutes later. I also noticed that my phone had been Wified -- I didn't have Wifi on but Wifi had been turned on.
I am terrified now that I'm going to be hit with major charges, and maybe legal charges if this turns out to be some illicit porn site or something. I have a solution for you.. They are 2 scam busters who bust these assholes all the time.. Their names are Ashton Binham and Art Kulkarni.
They even helped a lady who was scammed out of 32, I have followed their channel for 2 yrs now. They're really great guys and so funny too. Give them a shout, here's their channel. I received a call from and when I didn't answer they sent me a text apparently the have done research on me and know I run an animal rescue so the text said Hi its Katia with the lost cat call me back.
Well first of all my phone number is not linked to my rescue so hmmmmmmmmmmmmm I think not Katia. I recieved a txt from I recieved it right after I listed my business on Google maps. His game is to hire me for a tree job on property he is selling. He is not in state he says and he wants an estimate. I gave him an estimate and my mailing address and told him after the check clears I'll do the job.
He says ok. Then txts back a day later and says his company will allow him to only send one check and he has an electrician that will be working there and he is going to include the payment for the electrician in with my check.
I was suspicious in the very beginning because he gave me an address and when I looked it up on Google maps the address showed a grassy park inside a trailer park and it was labeled as a painting company. I played along tho and went to the location to confirm. When I got there I found the property he wanted the work done on.
It was only across the street. So I bid the job. Gave him an outrageous bid. He accepted the bid without protest. He gets a tracking for the package and tells me it has been sent. I say ok and that is the last communication I have given him so far. The check arrived yesterday and he has been constantly trying to contact me through text. The thing is he FedExd the package it took a couple weeks to get here. That's not normal. The van that dropped off the check was not labeled fedex.
Then it occured to me. This guy is not in some far flung country. He is right here in this state in my town! I took note of his very good english. Most scammers have broken english. So he is American. The address he gave me was wrong because when he was scoping out a good place to claim as his, he parked his van right where I parked my truck and he googled the address as he sat there. When he got the number he didnt cross refrence to make sure it was correct.
Now that he has a fish on the line he sends a check, only it was right around christmas and I assume christmas things had him busy so he couldn't deliver the check in a timely fashion.
Fedex takes about 3 -4 days. He goes to the fed ex store and gets a fedex envelope to put the check in then generates a fake tracking number and label. So When he did get back to me he was very persistent trying to contact me to prime me for the delivery. When that failed he reluctantly went through with the delivery. He arrived in a sketchy white van unmarked. He moved and drove suspiciously, slowly, like he was taking in every detail looking for signs of a possible trap or sting.
When he got out his head was on a swivel. I have it all on video from my security camera unfortunately it's too far away to see the licence plate. His sketchy van reminded me of a painters van. The neighbors got a delivery from the same van. A sketchy check for absolutely no reason they said. He is still on the hook hoping I'm not wise to the game.
I could catch this guy. Right now January 14 I have done a considerable amount of detective work to find out what I know. I'm stuck on what to do next. I need a name and with that and all i know the cops could walk right up and arrest him. But without that they most likely will just put it on a stack of paperwork labeled "to do" because their case load right now is astronomical if I dont have a smoking gun they will not make it a priority Time is critically important.
I have a story to cover my silence that is believable. If anyone can help please send me an email. That is the only communication I will accept at this time. If you take to long to respond I may suspect that you are a scammer that read this and Is trying to steer me wrong. Time delay suggests they need to translate all of what I said.
This is a shot in the dark and I'm hoping I can trust someone. Total scam. My name is James goins my stimulus check went into account number how do I find out which account and bank and whose account it is that my check went to ending and account number account number Yesterday they call me from my local police department phone number and explained that my phone was highlight in sex traffic crime. That of course sent me on the search to find out about the area code, which brought me to your blog. So they're reaching out by email too. My "Invoice" is obviously terrible broken English as you can see below. September Update Well, I'm again repeatedly receiving two specific scammer calls over and over and over The first is a certain, infamous police association charity organization.
The second is that well-known "cardholder" call where they claim there is a problem with your account. Needless to say, that's an immediate hang-up. October Update. Cellphone told me the call was from South Dakota. I don't know anyone from South Dakota; I did not answer; turned out it was a legitimate call from a local cab driver who was trying to find me.
What a mess. Nothing really new to report, other than I guess a reminder to never donate to charities over the phone. January Update. It is highly recommended that one drop by Bing News and do a search for: stimulus check scam.

Includes prevention tips. When there's life, there's hope. But that could all change today. New technology and new laws. There's a major Amazon scam going on.
I received a robocall purporting to be from Amazon. It then informed me the order was suspicious and a temporary hold had been placed. It then instructed me to press a number to continue. The call sounded so legitimate that it made me pause, but then I wisely decided to just hang up. I then visited the Amazon website and my financial institution's website. Yep, the bogus call was indeed a phishing scam or worse.
Good thing I didn't press any numbers; at minimum that would have initiated even more scam calls. A side note. It occurred to me that I don't do that much business with Amazon these days. So why should I leave a vulnerable payment method there? So I deleted the critter. It will be a pain in the neck re-entering it on my next order, but in this case security won out over convenience.
