I tried all manners of things to reveal hidden files, but there is nothing resembling a stickies database in either my current library folder, or, more critically, in any of my timemachine backups. That's the database for the Stickies application, not the Dashboard widget.

The one to look in is the hidden one in your home user folder. To access that one quickly, while in Finder hold down the Option key and open the Go menu - an item named Library will be added to the list.

Thanks to this post I was able to restore most of my stickies, don't know why this happened but I had left my Mac on uploading to YouTube, overnight all of my Stickies were gone when I went to open Stickies this morning nothing was there.

Any ideas what could of caused this I'm pretty sure its not a Virus nothing else seems to acting weird or strange. Just as of last night I copied and pasted something from my stickies closed Stickies as normal just left my Mac on for the uploading "No one touched my Mac overnight" this morning I needed to copy and paste and like I said Stickies went back to like brand new usage telling me "how to use notes" for first time..

And this little trick has come handy both times as I usually have a lot of info on my dashboard stickies! And I think everybody does. It's just because they're always there for quick notes!

I had an account login on one of them talk about security and privacy! It felt like "what's the point of a clean installation if I put everything back in it!? And I thought, I've needed to recover dashboard stickies a couple of times, I might need to again! Maybe just try quitting and starting Notes again?
